Today, my fiancé proposed to me. I was really excited until he asked, "Can we go halfsies on the ring?" FML
I agree, your life sucks 33 126
You deserved it 5 731

Lol_0127 tells us more.

I'm the OP. Let me clarify a few things. He's not suffering finacially. He makes $60,000 a year. I make $20,000. He bought a $3000 ring which was more than enough for me. It's beautiful. I don't want a massive rock. I don't spend all his money. I support myself. We live together. I pay half the rent

Wow I am so dumb. When I first read this FML, I thought it meant to half the ring and have half each. I read 5 comments until I realized what it really meant. I am a total failure.

Why do you think you deserve a ring for getting married anyways?

OP states in her comment that she doesn't care whether or not he buys her a ring. So read before being so judgmental

10 years into the future when I get married, I don't give a damn what he pays for the ring. Hell, I'll settle for a $60 ring as long as it's some what decent.

all of you who are whining about materialism are probably poor dumbasses who can't hold a decent job. spent too much time partying in college? I pity you. my gf will pick out whichever ring she wants and I'll pay for it. and no I don't have rich parents. I put myself through college with scholarships and started my own business. grow a pair and stop blaming the economy.

Sounds like something my asshole ex would say. Guys should pay for the ring.

i laugh at the girls who say "well the girl's family has to pay for the wedding so the guy should pay for the ring" key word there, FAMILY. the girls FAMILY pays for the wedding, and the guy has to eat mac and cheese for 3 months to pay for a ring. and the girls say hes a selfish cheapwad for asking the girl tp pay for half of her ring... i have lost faith in this world

Heh, me and my guy are planning to get married, and I've had spent ages trying to convince him to get something cheap but nice. It's not like he's a cheap bastard if it doesn't cost $1000, it's a symbol of love and stuff. I don't get how people will be so angry and such if their ring doesn't have a huge ass diamond on it or whatever. :l

No one is talking about the size of the diamond...

The reason the stats are so drastically different is because who is gonna admit to adultery? Many people will lie (I mean, afterall if they're lying about this they are also lying to their wives so it's not that unlikely). Thus the stats are probably trying to account for the lies. So let's just go with at least 30% of marriages have infidelity in them..

@chloelovestoswim.. He means your from michigan, there for you don't know anything...side from cheese, that is
