Today, my 6-year-old daughter touched a tray I'd just pulled out of the oven. I quickly swatted her hand away, but then noticed she wasn't hurt or burned at all. I then gingerly touched the tray and got scalded. My daughter giggled maniacally as I screamed. To be honest, I'm now terrified of her. FML

Maybe she was just about to touch it, but you reacted fast enough that she didn't have time to make full contact, and you simply thought she did? If not, I'm cueing the X-Files theme.

You've raised an evil genius, congratulations, OP! You should be very proud!

she may have that thing where she can't feel pain... it's weird

She's 6 years old. I think her mom would have figured that out by now.

Also the OP said she didn't see any burns. People with CIPA (that's the name of the condition) feel no pain but can still be physically injured.

My brother did the same thing to me with a light bulb... He put his fingernail on it so that it didn't hurt him and made me believe the light bulb wasn't hot when I went to touch it normally. :(

Remember. What is hot to you. Might not be hot to everyone else

Better of replying to 27 but still I got your point...

It's interesting to see all the game of thrones fans coming out for this one. Glad to know how many of us are out there.

The internet is, apart from cat content, mostly filled with fandoms and ****. It's where those two mix that things get scary.

Either she didn't actually touch it, or she has a higher pain tolerance than you.

It's possible her hands were wet - quickly and lightly touching a very hot object with water on your hands creates a layer of steam between the hand and object which partially insulates the hand from harm. Think of the old test for checking an iron is hot - lick the finger and lightly and quickly touch the hot iron, it sizzles but doesn't hurt f it's done lightly and quickly.

if she did have this condition, she won't feel the pain but she'd still get burnt physically
