Today, I tried really hard for once on an assignment. I was told it was my worst work yet and that I may as well have turned nothing in at all. FML

you should do the opposite and see if it is a master piece

Some people do better when they do not overthink their assignments. Maybe you are one of those people.

But if he doesn't try, will he even turn anything in?

carlfirebolt 27

well he should try to turn stuff in but not put effort in his work for this experiment.

There's a difference between being competent and over confidence, I find the less I worry/try the better I am. Thinking to much can be a pain.

#4 But OP said that he/she would've done better if they had turned nothing in.

#32 it said the teacher said "might have not turned in anything at all", not OP. And honestly I'm the same. When I study for a test, I often end up failing. When I don't study, I often end up doing very well. That's why I procrastinate a lot, it's what gets me honor roll.

Go back to not trying, seems to work for you.

I use to have that same problem I guess everyone is just different. Everyone gotta learn their own way to score them "A's".

You can know nothing and try your hardest, but you'll still do terribly. You can know something and hardly try and still do well. How hard you think you worked doesn't really determine how well you do on an assignment. Don't use the excuse of "i did shitty even though I tried so I'm not going to try".

Well you tried so hard, but in the end it didn't even matter. FYL

Well... If you exclude the passing grade the op wont be getting, sure.

Even though you tried, it all fell apart

What it meant to be will eventually be a memory of the time OP tried so hard.

Does anyone get the Linkin Park reference?

MikaykayUnicorn 36

I was going to make this reference, damn you #3!

Do or do not. There is no try. Yoda

Really you can't come up with something original yourself.

leogachi 15

@19 You didn't come up with anything original either, so why complain?

#19 At least they gave the credit where it belonged.

That little green bastard... *sniff* gets me every time...

Sounds like grounds for some revengeance

This was the first thing through my head too, I'm exactly that kinda person myself.

One thing, I don't know why, it doesn't even matter how hard you try, keep that in mind I designed this rhyme to remind myself how I tried so hard, in spite of the way you were mocking me acting like I was part of your property, remembering all the times you fought with me I'm surprised they got so far. Things aren't the way they were before, you wouldn't even know recognize me anymore, not that you knew me back then but it all comes back to me in the eeeeend. (Literally my favorite song ever ?)

#27 If that was literally your favorite song then I feel like you would have at least gotten the lyrics right.

Hey man, we all **** up. In the end, what matters is the effort, may not help with your grade, but effort is pretty damn good.

Yup, that was my whole third year of uni. Second year I did my own thing and did fine, third year I tried to follow the lecturers' feedback as we were supposed to and all my grades dropped. If your 'trying hard' is taking on too much and taking too much advise you'll end up stressing and writing something not in your own style. It'll be too disjointed. Good luck though, don't give up. You'll find your style eventually. And don't forget that lecturers all mark differently and some of them are asses.

wow. maybe look over your assignment to see what mistakes you made?
