Today, I realized there is nothing quite like having your mother be too hungover to open presents on Christmas morning. FML

My mother is an alcoholic who refuses help. She gets drunk and violent so I'll try not to sue her over that! thanks pal I feel so much better!!!!

For Christmas you should give her aspirin, water, Alka Seltzer, and a bucket.

Merr...merry...mer...Christma...BLAHHHHHH *Insert favorite puke sound here* ...to you too!

She's obviously not sober enough to open presents. I'm pretty sure she's 'too drunk'.

My dad was too drunk to see straight yesterday. FYL

Makes me thankful my parents don't drink.

3 - Hungover doesn't mean drunk. It's the after effects of being drunk the night before...

I'd keep her away from the eggnog from now on.

I never thought you could get hungover from eggnog.

4- I wouldn't. Somethings you can't do for others, they have to do for themselves. However, if she was visiting me for Christmas as my mother, I simply wouldn't have any booze available to offer in my home.

Have you not heard of hair of the dog that bit you?

not before family get-togethers

I think you meant "do" before, during, and after any get-together with family.

I think you need to have a talk with her on self control, OP. That's not the way I'd want to spend Christmas morning!

Because being badly hungover is a lot better...

At least it's just your mother, not everyone in your family. But if she's your only family then hopefully you have sober friends

Merry Christmas, and have a happy new year.

Hey it's her Christmas too, she should be able to celebrate it how she wants to LOL
