Today, I ran over a recently-killed skunk in the road. My truck now smells absolutely rancid, and the smell will probably last for months. At least it goes well with my dog, who was also skunked 6 weeks ago. FML

The dog still stinking isn't my fault. I was away and my parents had the dog. When it happened, my father asked me what he should do. I gave him the recipe for the Peroxide-baking-soda-dish-soap mix, and then he got all indignant like he always does when he thinks someone is trying to tell him what to do. So, my dog got an initial bath with water and some weak, all-natural shampoo instead, and now me and my father aren't speaking. that alone could have been an FML.

Well, that stinks. Rest in peace, Pepe Le Pew. That aside, lemon juice works wonders on the scent of death. Might be worth looking into, and applying via a spray bottle.

I run over dead skunks just about every day. The smell is gone within a few mins. If you're dog still stinks 6 weeks later, you deserve it for not cleaning your dog.

Hunting and sporting stores ususaly have products to help remove the smell, and im sure you can find some on amazon. Tomato juice and baking soda helps, as well as peroxide and lemon juice. The odor likes to settle into anything pourous, including hair and fur, so longer fur dogs have more of an issue.

Avoid the tomato juice. It doesn’t work any better than the other home remedies, makes a mess, and depending on color of the pooch, can stain it. Of course, Halloween is coming up, so pup would be ready for it.

That might sound weird, but tomato sauce relieves the smell At least on the dog that is

So I guess that makes it your turn now to get skunked.
