Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, while working the graveyard shift at my hotel, it felt a little chilly, so I grabbed a blanket out of the box we usually store old blankets in. Twenty minutes later, the live-in maintenance man casually remarked that those blankets are all infected with bed-bugs. FML
Today, I'm staying with my in-laws. I'm obsessive about cleanliness and neatness. They're candidates for a certain show about hoarders. I want to shower in bleach. FML
Today, I'm sharing a hotel room with co-workers on a business trip. The walls are paper-thin, you could hear a pin drop, and I'm trying to make my explosive diarrhea as close to silent as possible. FML
Today, I discovered I have bed bugs. I have nowhere else to sleep and I won't be able to afford a new mattress for at least a year. I'd better get used to these giant welts. FML
Today, I sat in my hotel room bathroom in dead silence for 30 minutes while I waited for the cleaning staff to stop watching TV and drinking beer from the minibar, so that I could finish using the toilet. FML
Today, I discovered that my bed has a flea infestation. I discovered it after sleeping naked in it for about an hour. FML
Today, even though I'm the most neat freak germophobe there is, I was diagnosed with scabies. FML
Today, I checked into a hotel for a work trip. When I walked in, the sheets and bath mat were stained, and there was soap-encrusted hair stuck in my folded towel. When I got back later in the day, all my stuff was gone because they apparently thought I'd checked out. FML
Today, my roommate showed me a video of a cockroach crawling all over my face while I was asleep in the lounge. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I went to see a horror movie. It ended up scaring her so badly that she refused to leave our bed all night long, even to pee. I have to clean the mattress now. FML

Turn off the channel or get off the bed. Don't be lazy or cheap, next time do a little research and maybe spend a little more for better quality.

Well, educate yourself. At least you're aware of potential problems. I learnt about how some hotel bedbugs crawl into people's luggage when they put their suitcases on the beds while gathering their clothes to pack. Those stowaway can then infest their home. :O

hotels with bed bugs should not be allowed to operate. what kind of skeevy joints are you guys staying in. dont get me wrong ive seen some tired rooms but nothing ive been scared to stay in.

In this report, even the more upscale hotels had these problems. I once stayed in the worst hotel ever! I was vacationing in Disney and thought "Hey, why get an expensive room, all I'm going to do is sleep?" All the other hotels were booked and I was stuck in an ant infested room. Wouldn't even sleep under the covers. You don't know what you're getting until you check in. :P

thats disgusting. ok mistakes can happen but we are not allowed to sell rooms with problems like that. i hope you complained and got some sort of compensation.

@41 I work at a high end hotel and even we have had a case or two. What a lot of people don't realize is that the guests themselves can bring the bedbugs into the hotel with them, although that's not always the case. The bugs can live in wood and I've also heard stories of people bringing home bedbugs from wooden luggage holders. (I'm glad ours are metal)

Agreed with 55 and 57. Bed bugs pretty well never just pop up in a hotel- they're brought in by a guest and if you catch it immediately they won't spread to more than just that one room.

I have OCD and I never touch ANYTHING in hotel rooms. Especially not the beds. I either bring an air mattress or my own sheets, pillows and blankets. I then get rid of them or wash then vigorously afterwards... And my family thinks Im ******* crazy...
