Today, a shifty customer came in to my store and was hanging around for about 30 minutes. Apparently, he took that time to put religiously-motivated anti-abortion notes into each and every pair of socks. In the following hours, I had 17 angry returns and was personally threatened twice. FML

Because the sharing of opinions and ideas helps to shape the nature and function of society. If everyone just spent their time being a meek and silent recluse, sharing no opinions, we would have no sense of community. Also, I'm sure our growth, intellectually, emotionally, and otherwise, would be quite stunted if people couldn't speak their minds. Sure, it's easy to get frustrated if someone has a different opinion or shares it poorly, but if you can take a step back and look at the big picture... free speech is more of a good than evil.

He has a right to have beliefs, but not to put flyers about them in everyone's socks and make employees' jobs miserable. C'mon.

Unless he's trans, I'm sure it's also very easy to be against abortion when he'll never be put in the difficult position of choosing between "have an abortion or have a kid".
