Today, I checked my bank account that I've been saving money in since I was a kid for college. I have $100 left out of the $10,000 I had last month. Apparently my parents thought buying a pool and an HDTV for themselves was more important than my college education. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I found out why my parents have been trying to convince me not to go to college this year. I also found out where the $20,000 they just spent on landscaping came from. My college fund. Which is now $0. FML
Today, I frantically told my parents that my bank account had no money. Turns out, they took the $1,600 I had saved up from a summer job and invested it in penny-stocks. I was grounded because they were "doing it for the family," and I'm being selfish. They also had lost it all in a matter of days. FML
Today, my dad came home from Vegas. Today, my college savings account is down by $64,000. FML
Today, I was worried because it's July and I still haven't found a summer job, despite applying to 50 places. It was fine, because I remembered my savings account. I told my parents. Instead of being relieved, they said they're going to take the money from me for being lazy, and using it for my tuition, despite promising to pay for it. FML
Today, I found my checking and savings account to both read $0.00. My parents transferred all my money to theirs because "I'm irresponsible, and not fit to handle money." I'm a 3.8 college student and have a full-time job. They are currently unemployed. FML
Today, I found out that my parents are 28,000 dollars in debt and that my bank account has $27.17 in it. They took my money to help pay their debt. FML
Today, I found out my mom took around $2,500 from my savings account to pay off my sister's college tuition. She recently flunked out of her studies and won't be returning to college anyway. FML
Today, I found out that my parents used all of the college money I have been saving up for 8 years to buy a beach house. The reason they waited until now to tell me? A tree fell on it, and they need more money for repairs. FML
Today, my mother asked me if she could borrow $200. Being the lovely daughter I am, I gave her my bank card to withdraw it herself. She gambled it away and maxed my bank account out. I had $1500 saved. FML
Today, I discovered my parents have spent my college fund because "2012 will happen" before I graduate. FML

That really ought to be illegal. You get screwed if your parents don't meet their financial aid obligations for your education, so there should be some legal requirement for your parents to meet those obligations.

Was their some sort of other financial issue involved? Granted that was still the lowest thing they could have done, but since it was linked to you if they were having issues and needed to file for bankruptcy or something they wouldn't be able to with your account. Plus, you would probably have issues getting loans for college with the extra 10,000 which would only cover about one semester anyways. I'm not saying that excuses it your life is still ******, but maybe there was a deeper issue?

how can your parents have access to YOUR account that YOU'VE been saving in for all this time? is it really YOUR account? or is it your parents that have been putting the money in all this time? If it is yours, then just take your parents car, sell it and put the money earned in a new account they dont have access too.

seriously they are your parents but still, if its your account and youve been saving money then they have no right to touhc it, my mum has access to my card becaus ei gave her my pin and i know 100% she wont do something so ******* stupid or selfish like that.
