Today, my now-ex broke up with me after alleging that I cheated on her. I didn't do anything, for the record. When I told my sister about it, she showed me a screenshot of an Instagram story where my ex was tagged, two weeks before leaving me. My ex was actually making out with another dude. FML

It's pretty common for cheaters to project their actions onto their partner. At least now you have proof that she was the one who was screwing around.

You see it over and over in life. People project their own faults onto others and assume the people around them are as flawed as they are. You see it in politics sometimes. You see it in bosses sometimes - I had a boss who was prone to lying and intentionally misleading and then in return he questioned even the honest people’s honesty… If girlfriend was cheating on you she either figured you were a patsy or thought you were probably cheating too. In the end, regardless of what was said and done she’s an ex now and it’s time to mourn you loss and then move on.
