One a day, so they say

By jazzie7719 - This FML is from back in 2014 but it's good stuff - United States - Arlington

Today, I went into an exam room to do a check-up on one of my patients. I told the little girl's mother that she needed her flu shots. When the girl heard this, she took an apple out of her pocket and threw it at me. FML

I guess an apple a day really does keep the doctor away.

I'm just surprised she kept an apple in her pocket, expecting to have to throw it at you lol

Now the important question is, did she still get her flu shots? Because if not I finally understand why having an apple a day hasn't managed to keep the doctor away, silly me I've been eating them, does this mean we're supposed to throw them?

I hate shots, but I wouldn't throw fruit or other projectiles if I needed one.

Actually, needles don't bother me at all. It's just a small pinch and it's over in seconds. I personally, don't really understand why they bother people so much. Some people really freak out over them.

For me, it is the sensation of the needle in my skin. My grandmother kinda made me scared of them by icing my skin to numb it, and then used sterilized sewing needles to dig splinters out of my skin from a young age. I could feel the scrapping sensation without that much pain. It reminds me of what the noise of scrapping ice off a windshield or nails on a chalkboard would feel like on/in my skin. Needles aren't painful to me. They just make me so uncomfortable that I don't like it.

I don't imagine anyone actually ENJOYS needles. But there is a line in the sand between being afraid (I have to close my eyes while getting a shot because I'll get sick if I look) and compromising your own health because you don't want a shot, like my best friend does. There's nothing to really be afraid of, but that doesn't mean anyone has to like shots.

I don't like the flu shots. I'm no doctor but I used to never get flu shots, and I never got the flu. Then a few years ago I got a shot for the first time. I also got the flu for the first time. Haven't gotten a flu shot since, haven't gotten the flu since. :P

Flu shot contains the flu in it. Your body had a reaction to it, because it's next experience the flu before, thus you had no immunity to it.

Same thing happened to me. And you can't really use the immunity thing because I could have gotten it literally anytime before that shot. Flu shots are a joke.

Shots aren't much fun, but they're still much better than dying from the flu.

Shots are fun,, but I'm thinking about a different kind of shot.....

Personally I don't believe in flu shots. I think they do more harm than good

"Shots, shots, shots, everybody?" Depends on what type of shots we're speaking of? Lol Patrón taken with an orange wedge vs a lime is the newest trend at my bar!

Is there some way to make shots not the only way to get vaccinated? I never get flu shots for that reason... Another one with the fear of needles...hope she missed

Some places have a nasal spray for the flu "shots"

I wonder if the local drug store has that...I'll have to check it out thanks 35
