Just go already!

Today, I told my dad to go to the doctor, as he’s been hacking his lungs up every minute for a month, and I've not had a decent night’s sleep since then. He insists he’s not sick, and my mom yelled at me because she sleeps in the same room and is able to sleep through it. FML

might sound stupid, but maybe offer to go with him ? yea, i know, dad is a grown man and all... but honestly now. if its as bad as you make it sound its possible your dad is simply scared it could be serious and refuses to go to the doctor because that makes it less real. fight or flight and all, it's the wrong reaction to have given the situation, but once stuck in this loop of denial some people need an outside push even if they themselves logically know better.

1) If this was a TV show you would just tell him we're going to the bar/church or w/e and just pull into the doctor's. 2) Or it's cancer he already knows and is keeping it on the DL. Sad but common.

My dad did this when I was 16. Gave me Hantavirus and an immune disorder that alone almost killed me. Now I’m living with tons of medical issues including stage-renel failure, a heart that will no longer beat correctly and an aneurysm in my head.

silly question, but why isn't it your mom's job to take him?
