Today, after I sent around 300 entries to a competition hosted by a deodorant company where the main prize is a trip to Hawaii, spending around 5 hours sending the entries, I won a deodorant. FML

Today, I'm constantly checking my emails to see if any of the jobs have got back to me, but nothing yet. There's this one place I really want to work at, and I've already sent a follow-up email for the job, and it's driving me crazy that I haven't heard anything. What should I do? FML

Today, I was supposed to hear back from a major scholarship competition. After months of waiting, during which my parents were convinced I had won, I discovered that my entry had never been received. Apparently the woman I had confirmed with had had a long day, and lied so that she could go home. FML

Today, I checked my mom's email to track a package I'm waiting to receive. Instead, I found out my mom canceled the order, and that my parents are getting a divorce and have been fighting via email for weeks. FML

Today, I went through my spam folder. I found out that I'd received several emails telling me that I have been sending emails containing essays for a class of mine to the wrong address. The term ended yesterday. FML

Today, I found a great recipe for dinner, and emailed it to myself with the subject "Dinner tonight". Hours later, I'd forgotten all about it, opened my emails, saw the subject line, and thought someone was asking me out to dinner. I got really excited until I saw the sender address. FML

Stuck in a rut

Today, I realized how stagnant my life has become when, while eating some leftover salad with crackers I'd left out the night before, I decided to open some new crackers and put them with the stale, and giggled to myself about the excitement of "cracker roulette." FML

You're being dumb, but you know you're being dumb, and you're being dumb as a result of loving your kid. Also, you're sat hitting refresh and complaining to us, which means you're -not- bothering your kid with the dumb. Brains sometimes produce stupid, being human is like that. Noticing you're thinking stupid and not acting stupid at anybody else is about all we can hope for (and I wish I was better at it). I haven't had enough coffee yet to end this on a joke. I'm sure the other commenters will make up for that.

Whatever the results, tell your child he/she did a great job. It's not easy to be competing this young.

On the bright side, if your kid loses the competition (anything other than first place), you can put them right to work. They can start making money rather than wasting time trying to shoehorn an education into such a numbskull.
