Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my wife demanded a divorce because I returned custody of my nieces and nephew to my brother, who has spent the last few years recovering from a horrible car accident. My wife wanted us to keep and adopt them. FML
Today, my daughter told me she wanted to divorce me. FML
Today, I came home to my wife who was drunk and sobbing. I’d left her alone with my kids from my first marriage along with ours and I guess they acted up so bad they made her break her sobriety. FML
Today, my wife of 9 years told me she wants a divorce all because I refuse to legally adopt her kids. FML
Today, I took my kids and left my wife because she's been drinking, which I absolutely forbid. Now she's going on social media saying I kidnapped them. FML
Today, my wife said she wants a divorce. Three days ago, I added her onto the title to my house, my bank accounts, and my business. FML
Today, a judge gave my ex custody of my two sons, most of my money, my house, my car, and has ordered me to take anger management classes. We're getting a divorce because she shot me with a gun. FML
Today, I asked my husband for a divorce. He said fine, as long as I got full custody of the kids. I did an actual double take; he didn’t want shared custody, he wanted me to take the kids, no arguments or negotiating, because he doesn’t want the kids anymore. FML
Today, my wife screamed, cried, called me lazy and a bad parent, and threatened to leave and take our four kids. All I did was ask for an hour to myself every day for some private time. FML
Today, my husband is divorcing me because I refused to sign off on the paperwork to break our kids’ trust funds or mortgage our house in order to pay for surgery for his 12 year-old dog. Yeah, it’s not like our kids need a future or a place to live or anything. FML

Something drastic like that should be a joined decision. (And if you ask me, to come only if there is no other choice). You betrayed her trust doing it without her consent and she think you are a bad parent because she probably think you should have sent her to rehab or counseling and not police. YDI

This woman was also likely an enabler if it got this back. She knew her daughter was addicted and is just trying to justify the slight of behavior by blaming you. I don’t think this is a one time thing or even something she just found out. Sorry OP, it must be hell, but may be better for you to let the divorce play out. If mom is in denial, I can’t imagine how much worse it will get if unaddressed but it’s likely been going on a while and mom won’t take any action and instead chose to ignore it making it worse. Actions have consequences and once your daughter sees them, it now opens the door for help. And I don’t mean jail, i mean hopefully you can request the judge get her to rehabilitation as part of release so your daughter can start on recovery and therapy to save them from a lifetime of abuse, further hardship and hopefully avoid an early death. Still, if you show up, even to the daughters hearing, it makes a large difference on starting the road to recovery and sometimes you will be in a position where there’s no choice. But if you show up to even support your daughter, it will help on custody hearings for the other kids. It’s tough, but i’m pulling for you!
