Ok, leave him to struggle, his Father will eventually find out. Also, when his Father is in the room, start a coersation with him in Spanish and he will witness himself how much he sucks. That or just seriously leave him to get overwhelmed by the job where he wants to quit.

There are a lot of Gov contract jobs for translation. Hard part is finding the first one willing to get you clearance. Great gigs, great pay and easy to move to the next when the contract ends. Could use this as a kick in the ass to move onto something great. Not just the gov contract stuff. I've been screwed over by my share of employers, as most people who have been in the workforce have. I've always used it to find a better direction. Not always easy. But it did pay off.
