Cheating cheater

Today, my boss's son is training to take over my job as head translator, after having convinced his dad that he's fluent in Spanish, and that my skills suck. I soon walked in on him using Google Translate on a legal document. My boss refuses to believe me. FML

I would suggest for you to quit. When, and I say when not if, the bosses son messes up something major, he just might claim you set him up or trained him improperly.if you quit, and he messes up and you are not there to blame, then your boss will have to face the fact that his son screwed him over.

#39 - The way your post reads is you are implying that the OP is responsible for teaching the kid Spanish.

How would a father not know what languages his son is fluent in?

Ask him something complicated in Spanish in front of your boss and watch him struggle to respond. Tell him something ridiculous in Spanish and if he doesn't seem weirded out, pop out a Spanish-English dictionary and show them what you said.

It will very soon become apparent that this guy has no idea if he is left alone to mess up! There is no way he's going to be able to hide he has no Spanish language knowledge for too long.

At least he won't be able to get away with it for long. Hopefully you'll get an apology from your boss, and the son gets what's coming to him.

Wow that's terrible. Hopefully you can report this to corporate if this is a big company. Best of luck

Quit the job, apply for other jobs. Let the son take over and **** up the business, and when your boss wants you back go back on the condition of a pay raise

If reverse that. Apply, get a job, then quit. Why be unemployed out of spite?

I agree with 74. It's not exactly smart to quit a job when you don't have a guaranteed job in line.
