Firing someone for being sick is generally against the law. Also, firing someone for following safety regulations is usually some sort of OSHA violation. Some lawyer is going to be very happy, and your manager will not be. Sucks that you're out of a job though.

go to a lawyer and even if this is a slam dunk case get a good one. Like I always say: best lawyer gets the best payout (also add your court fees to what he has to pay you should not be in this situation you should not have to pay to have it resolved) and as always pity amd compassion are not your allies when trying to get justice
