This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff
United States
Apron springs
Today, my mother screamed and swore at me because I said I was looking to move out soon. Apparently, the idea of me moving out at 27 and her getting a job to pay her own way is devastating. FML

Even more reason to move out, make her lazy ass pay her own way.

Good for you for taking care of yourself! Though I think you should keep it on the down-low until the moving truck arrives. That will show her she needs to take care of herself instead of relying on someone else to do it for her.

If you just dropped the bomb out of nowhere, I can see how she would get upset. However, given your age I can't imagine that this didn't come up at some point. When she calms down, try talking to her, and if she blows up again- RUN.

What the hell just help her out, maybe she's too weak to work, or injured. White people are so wierd when it comes to moving out

I had a friend whose mother berated and yelled at her any time she brought up moving out because she wanted to keep my friends survivors insurance from her dad's death. Neither the mother or her deadbeat drug addict boyfriend had jobs at the time, my friend moved out anyways, best decision ever.

My mum threw a fit when my brothers told her they were moving out. She doesn't like that my eldest bro won't be giving her money to look after her. She doesn't need to be looked after
