Worthless

Today, my long-distance boyfriend of three and a half years told me he was leaving me for a girl he met at his Uni, because, “I’m tired of jerking off all the time and I need intimacy.” He’s only known her for two months. So the three and a half years together meant nothing to him then? FML

Sucks but how many more years were you expecting it to last? 3.5yrs long distance / online-only is not a relationship. You had a pen pal..

OP, I am sorry but In person dating always trumps long distance relationships… At least he was honest enough to let you know instead of stringing you along any further.

Sometimes the trash takes itself out.

Intimacy is a real physical and mental need. Maybe he was a bit rude in the way he said it but long-distance relationships are hard and complicated. And three years is a long time. Even this site has quite a few similar stories about long distance falling apart in the face of real day to day relationship

It was harsh how he went about it. but LDRs have a shelf life before someone needs to move or the relationship ends. 3.5 years is a long time to deprive yourselves of physical affection and sex and it sounds like he was actually faithful, which is commendable

How long was this long distance thing supposed to last? Were you going to live together at some point?

It's like 'Road Trip' but the roles are gender-reversed. And Tom Green isn't annoying me.
