Today, it was my dad's 60th. I was planning on calling him early, but due to a client (I'm a social worker) ending up in hospital because her husband beat her up, I couldn't call him until 2:30. My mum phoned me in tears, yelling that I was a bad daughter and obviously didn't care about my dad. FML

So in other words your mother is quite toxic. Maybe a good birthday present to your dad would be a way for him to spend some time away from her.

Unless you're treating the victim or are defending her from the attack, you should have called at a reasonable time. You only have one dad and he'll only have one 60th.

It depends on the family tradition. If my mom doesn't call me at 7:37 am, something is wrong, but my brother and sister have all day.

Yep, you only have one dad. My mam used to call me at 8AM and they wished me HBday together. You could have called in the morning. A call only takes 5min.
