Today, my family and my fiancée's family met each other and my worst fear came true. My asshole dad found out my fiancée's dad is a reverend and his first sentence was, "How's the molestation business these days?" It didn't take long before a brawl erupted and we were kicked out. Today, my parents were watching videos of police officers dealing with stubborn suspects. I overheard my mom saying, "It's like a Christian trying to argue with an atheist about God" and my dad agreed. Good to know that they're still as intolerant as ever, and it will never be safe for me to come out as an atheist. FML

Today, I finally mustered up the courage to tell my overly-religious parents that I'm an agnostic. They asked me why. As soon as I gave my reasons, my mom called me a "bigot" and hurled a bible at me, and it nailed me in the crotch. She then said, "That's what you get, non-believer." FML

And as you can see by the previous comments here, this is NOT the place for a Christian to complain about an atheist! Keep praying for her and meet every one of her snarky comments with a passive “why do you think it’s okay to mock me for my beliefs?” Remember there’s a LOT of evidence about the life of Jesus and archaeological findings of biblical events. Whether or not you want to try to debate her is up to you. I’ve discovered that debating an atheist is about as successful as debating a flat earther - both are incredibly close minded and logic doesn’t often work.
