THANK YOU I'm glad there are other people who share this opinion. I don't understand how some art makes it into museums and becomes so valuable. Especially when people attach such a deep meaning to something a 3 year old could have randomly done. And minimalist stuff too. Basically doing as little to something as possible. You deserve it! I am an artist and while I do not appreciate abstract one bit, art as a whole isn't "easy". I do agree that abstract art looks like scribbles and that a 5 year old can do it so you're right there.

It's cute how people are wirting essays about this... It's really quite simple: ABSTRACT art is, of course, bullshit. They spend more time on their artists' statements than their actual work. Real art can be anything- it's a wide spectrum, but generally anything thats not some lines and dots on a canvas requires skill. It's incredibly debateable, and trying to fix definition to anything is stupid. You'll never win. YDI for insensitivity, but you couldn't have known and that must be embarrassing as hell...

As an actor and artist, I must say, you're an asshole who deserves it and both are ******* HARD, some easier than others depending on what you do. Community theatre is going to be easier than broadway, and sketching harder than a landscape, but they're all HARD IN THEIR OWN WAYS.
