This isn't a dystopian young adult novel. Where did he get that idea? As far as I know, that kind of genetic manipulation is still controversial, if not downright illegal.

Why would scientists make a human being when they could make a new species of animal? Making a human would be impressive, but I'm just saying... A new species unique to everything else would be pretty awesome! Anyway, don't take what he said to heart. He was probably trying to make a joke, but very horribly failed at it.
