Today, I learned that not only do wood ticks have a habit of dropping off of branches onto you as you walk under them, they also like to hang out in groups of five or six. FML

Make sure you get them all... You should put them in a bag and send them to get analyzed to see if they carry Lyme's Disease. In Alberta, you an send them in through the local Veterinarian. Keep a watch on the areas that they bit... Watch out for any "bullseyes" developing on your skin. My cousin is very active outdoors and got Lyme's disease from a tick... Took them over a year to diagnose it properly so that he could get treatment! :S

Oh dude get on some antibiotics and get tested for borrelia burgdorferi, ticks transmit Lyme disease, nasty business

Wood ticks don't carry the bacteria that causes Lyme. Only black-legged (deer) ticks can transmit the disease.

That is a myth. Ticks do NOT fall from trees, especially 5 or more. They crawl to areas of exposed skin. If you found them up near your neck or head then they crawled there.

Always wear a hat when walking in woodsy areas and use essential oils such as cedarwood on your skin and clothing to deter insects.

Yeah that definitely sucks. I live in the sticks and when I say I probably have 50 tick bites so far this year that's no lie. I actually have a garter belt of bites from one tiny tick while I was sleeping. Good dozen or so there.
