Today, I got up on stage excited to recite a spoken word piece that I worked on and memorized for about 20 hours, neglecting other obligations like studying for an exam the next day. I blanked out in the middle of the performance in front of hundreds of people. FML

OMG! I moderated this one haha that's never happened before :] cool! OP, I am so sorry! I always do way better when I cram because I forget things when I study over long periods of time. that sounds absolutely horrible. The exact same thing happened to me, though, way back in 6th grade when I was in a little school speech competition and I blanked in front of everyone. But seriously, everyone's probably forgotten it by now. don't sweat it. 

Maybe you should have held onto small palm cards with dot points to jog your memory in the case that you would indeed blank out.

Dude don't blame yourself we all hate public speaking

When I go to the local spoken word/poetry slams and people forget a line or something, we all snap and encourage them to go on and let them know it's okay. Sometimes it's good to have the words with you, even if you don't need them, just in case.
