I don't know why but this reminded me of the FRIENDS episode where Rachel's sister Amy surprises her by getting her daughter Emma's ears pierced without consulting Rachel or Ross cause it was a "surprise"

Family or not I would go off on that woman like there is no tomorrow. On the plus side you know not to let her watch your child ever and what she did won't cause any lasting harm. Idk who the heck did the piercing but I would go after them for doing it without a parents permission.

I would take them out immediately. She should have the right to choose when she's older.

I wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced until my 13th birthday and I'm really glad. If someone did that to my child they would never be trusted to be alone with her again. By doing that she just gave you extra work. You have to keep the piercing itself clean and keep rotating the jewelry so it doesn't heal on the metal. Also if she had it done with a gun it will cause a little air bubble in the hole itself which earrings can get stuck in while you try to put them on; it really needs to be done by a professional at a tattoo parlor, not at the mall. My mom had my ears done at the mall and the cheap tiny jewelry they use for the actual piercing went into my ear lobe during healing. I had to push on the back to pop it out; the back of the earring was sharp because it was designed to go through flesh. Not fun at all. You can also just take them out and let them heal. She might have to deal with scar tissue when she gets them pierced later but it's not really a concern.

I think forcing her to get a face tattoo is an appropriate punishment. It'll serve as a warning and a reminder of her poor decision making skills.

i got my ears pierced when i was five and that's because my teacher told my mom that i was sticking stickers to my ears so my mom asked if i wanted earrings so i would stop i said yes you know why me getting my ears pierced is okay and not your baby because i was old enough to decide and i knew it hurt and that i have to clean them with my parents help of course and turn them your mother in law just took your daughters choice away make sure she knows that she can no longer babysit for that
