Today, as I was building furniture at work, I managed to get my fingernails ripped off and the tips mauled while cutting the wood for a nightstand. As my I was getting bandaged, one of my bosses looked at me and simply asked, "Why'd you stop working?" FML

Wow. I didn't expect this to get published like at all but hey I guess it's an upside to the whole thing. This actually happened yesterday and there's a lot more to what happened then you can fit in an FML so here's the full story. I work at a furniture store where one of our major sellers is the old, rustic, farm style furniture. I've recently became the first stage guy, cutting the wood, putting the frames together, that kind of thing. On the thicker boards there's always a little bit of excess on the end when you cut them down with a table saw and this particular sliver decided to get caught in the saw, catch under my finger nails, and launch back ripping two of them off. My bosses where really caring about the whole thing. In fact the store is owned by my best friends parents so they're like family to me. The guy who asked me why I stopped working was just giving me a hard time like he always does so I'm not mad in the slightest. He was just being a good ol hard ass dad and it was actually kind of funny.

You'd think the blood, mauled fingers and bandage would speak for itself...

This is why you should be careful of a one night stand.

Maybe they'd respond differently if you walked around spraying blood on the furniture

This gives "I made it with my own blood, sweat, and tears," a whole new context.

Tell him you were trying out a new furniture design eith finger joints and you really "nailed" it.

My quick reply: "I didn't think you wanted blood on your furniture."

Well, you certainly made that particular boss look like a complete douchecanoe with the verbiage of this FML, even though, according to you, it was the exact opposite. Really sucks about your finger, but this FML is ... "embellished."

@21 If you think that every FML ever written is meant to be taken completely at face value, then I've got news for you...

way to make your boss look like as ass. I hope they see this and fire you. they don't need someone creating drama and lying about them online. **** their life, not yours.

What drama is he creating? Plus they can't fire you for talking about them online that's his constitutional right of freedom of speech.

Don't worry about me getting fired. Like I said they're family and I showed them post as soon as it got published. They loved it ??

The first amendment simply means the government can't impede your free speech or arrest you for it. It does not apply to companies or people. If he is in a fire at will state they can fire him for any reason.

Yep, you don't want to get nailed just anywhere....

Should've gone to the ER and billed them for the workers compensation.

jeezus. I worked at a place where every other day was like that. it was a warehouse job with a lot of heavy lifting and woodworking. a guy cut his hand real bad, trailing blood through the warehouse. when I commented on how serious it looked, my manager said "so?" it's astonishing how little people care about their employees sometimes.
