Today, after two weeks of trying to convince my parents to go to my high school graduation. They finally gave in. After they handed me my diploma, they decided to leave because it was "too boring." I'm currently sitting on the curb of the street waiting for my Uber, while people take pictures of me. FML

Today, it was my college graduation ceremony. My parents didn’t come because they “forgot”, although I told them and had been reminding them for months. Last year was my little sister’s high school graduation. My parents wasted no time going to her ceremony and then took her out to dinner. FML

Today, I attended my graduation ceremony. My parents acted mysteriously and kept urging me to go home, since we had to be "on time" for something. Thinking they might have planned a surprise party, I left my friends behind. I missed my graduation because my mom wanted to watch a TV show. FML

Today, I found out nobody in my family wants to come to my college graduation. I spent 4 years and $60,000 to be the first person in my family to go to college, and nobody wants to see me graduate because the 4 hour ceremony is too long. FML

Today was the last my last day of high school ever, to celebrate me and my friends were going to go into the city and hang out for a bit. I missed the bus they caught into the city so I caught the next one, when I got there I asked where they were. They didn't respond. FML

Today, it was time to take graduation cap and gown pics. My cap didn't fit on my head. I'd specifically requested that they make it much larger, but they didn't. When someone tried to force it onto my head, it tore apart. So now I have no graduation cap. I'm so fucking done. Only 2 weeks left. FML

Today, It's been two years since I graduated from high school. The people in my grade excluded me from social activities and wouldn't talk to me. I dropped out of college when the same trends ensued and people treated me the same. For now, at 20, I serve drive-thru to people who bullied me, on their way to party. FML

Hey OP, those are terrible parents. Be glad you're out of their grasp, and be better than them when you have children. The greatest part is that you can actually tell them to go f* themselves and that you never want to see them. So what if they're your parents, you deserve better. Take control of your life, cut them loose

congrats that you graduated, now you see and feel even more that you didn't do it for their approbation, you learn and graduate stuff for yourself and for your career and since they don't give you support, you don't have to feel bad about not supporting them later on :) look at it on the positive side OP!

If I wasn't in UK, I would have come to support you - that is so mean. You have achieved a fantastic milestone and it should be celebrated accordingly! I don't know Ur family or Ur family dynamic but I'd say that's a pretty unsupportive and toxic family. I'm sorry to hear they didn't stay. Congratulations on graduating, you should be very proud :)
