Today, I learned that while I respectfully distanced myself from my female friends in the last two years of dating my girlfriend, as per her request, she has been making loads of new male friends on her "backup Snapchat." This includes guys from her work, or guys her girlfriends bring around her. FML

If you did that with no indication, YDI for cutting friends loose. If she demanded it, that should have been a red flag.

There's no such thing as respectfully distanced. Either both start off on new page in a relationship and never see other people (toxic, controlling, abusive, not normal in today's society). Or neither gives up their friendships prior to meeting each other. This is such a big red flag, why would you be with someone who dictates who you can be friends with?? Parents can't do that, teachers can't do that, relatives can't, but some random person new in your life gets the biggest say? Adults communicate, children play games "this is mine". Very disturbing, adults have to control their partners to feel loved, instead working on their own issues. Not everyone is a competition, most people don't even care that includes friends and family.

Why didn't you request the same from her? What did you do to her girlfriends that they are directing guys her way? Yeah, that's what I thought.
