Today, I called my workplace to ask if I was going to be working, and if our store would be open. I was told that yes, we're still open, however, I can order inside, but I can’t sit in the dining room. They thought I was a customer. FML

Today, I arrived at work at 8, and business was abnormally slow, but we assumed it would pick up. Few hours later, we had not had a single customer. As I walk out of the restaurant, I realize the open sign has been off all day. FML

Today, I was yelled at by a customer, who was upset over having waited twenty minutes for a waiter to come take her order. Maybe it would be understandable, if she was sitting in an actual restaurant, and not a serve-yourself coffee house. FML

Today, I got a phone call from my boss, who'd hired me after two months of waiting and begging for this position. A week into the job, the company is closing our store. FML

Today, I went out to eat. When I walked into the restaurant, a lady approached me and said she'd seat me soon. After a long wait, I saw that same lady leave. Then I realized she didn't actually work there and was just screwing with me. FML

Today, I was shopping at my workplace, out of uniform, with my husband. A customer recognised me and wanted me to serve him, but I couldn't since we can be fired for doing so while off-duty. He complained to my manager, who wasted no time publicly bitching me out. FML

Today, I was helping a customer when she asked if we were open on Christmas eve. I wasn't sure, so I asked my manager. My manager looked me over and said, "Yes, we will be open. Thank you for volunteering to come in." FML

Ehh I’d rather have crappy content than no content. Not all FML’s are gonna be “oh no I almost died and my husband left me” kind of stuff. A lot is mild.

I suppose? But for it to be FML when you call in and someone doesn't know who you are? I don't understand how his daily life was put out of the way past another 10 seconds of explaining who he was. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the point of this FML is NOT that they wasted 10 seconds of their life. the point is that whoever answered the phone didn't recognize OP over the phone, despite being coworkers. I'd feel pretty frustrated if my boss did this to me, especially if I've been working there for a while

Gees, sorry for that but it was probably just an honest mistake. Many people are asking a lot of questions right now and you most likely were not the first to inquire. However...as a company they should have told all the employees what their plan is to proceed as a collected unit in this pandemic.
