Today, I met with an important client to talk about his stake in the company. The guy was at least 80 years old. After taking care of business, we spoke about my final year at the company. As he got up to leave he said, "Good luck in your final year." Without thinking, I replied, "You too!" FML

Today, I had a phone interview with my potential new boss. I was getting excited about the prospects of landing a great job. I had nailed every question the man asked me and right after he told me he'll call me tomorrow if he wants me to come in I sweetly said, "Talk to you tomorrow! Love you!" FML

Ouch! That reminds me of: When was younger I hated going to weddings… my aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me "You're next." They stopped that after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals...

I would think he would interpret "you too" as referring to the good luck, not the final year. But yeah, people often say "you too" without thinking. I once said that to a cab driver after he dropped me off at the airport and said "have a safe flight."

I agree with #27. He probably thought you meant good luck, and even if he didn't he would probably acknowledge that it was a mistake. Everyone's been there XD
