Today, I went to go meet my boyfriend at a restaurant to tell him it just wasn't working out. Before I could do so, he proposed. I had to tell him no, so he started to cry and ran out. Everyone looked at me like some kind of monster. FML

Today, I went to my girlfriend's house to break up with her. It was a hard decision and both of us became quite emotionally overwhelmed at the time. We began to hug as a final goodbye, then her mum burst in the room and yelled, "HE FINALLY PROPOSED!" FML

Am I the only one that finds it odd how often this kind of thing happens? Where somebody wants the relationship to end and the other person wants to get married? If somebody is going to break up with you, wouldn't there be at least some signs ahead of time? Wouldn't things be going downhill? Maybe it's just me, but I'm always kind of surprised at how many people there are who propose to somebody who is about to break up with them, and the person proposing seems to have no idea that their partner was about to end things.

Often one person is happy in their relationship because they are getting everything they want at the expense of their very unhappy partner but they're oblivious to what kind of feeling they are causing. Happens all the time. To everyone who told her to accept or asked what she said: are you out of your minds or something? do you just think it's a good idea to be married and it doesn't matter to who?
