Not a geography major

Today, I had an interview for a college. The college is in Rhode Island. I live on the West coast. When I asked the interviewer if they got to the mainland by boat or by some other form of transportation, he told me Rhode Island is not an island. FML

im from england and even i know its not an island

I love how OP thinks noting he lives on the opposite end of the country somehow excuses the fact he is an idiot.

I love how these comments are all "America vs. [insert country here]" now. Not really. I'm American, many people I know are not this misinformed.

31 - when Rhode Island was named, barring Native Americans, all west coasters were east coasters. Regardless of where you live now, your ancestors are just as much to blame as ours (east coaster) are. Living in a different state doesn't give you an excuse to be a f**ktard about American geography.

Why does everyone think OP deserves it? Why would someone on the west coast know that Rhode Island isn't an island? I bet the average east coast person doesn't know much about the west coast -- I certainly don't.

Are you serious?! Learning ALL 50 states and their capitals should be basic geography for elementary school students. Even if she was never taught this, she should know that Rhode Island isn't an island if she plans on going to college there.
