Masterful gambit, sir!

Today, after a long time spent trying to learn chess as a hobby, I've come to accept that I'm simply destined to never be any good at it. Maybe I'm just a slow learner, but it feels like I've made zero progress since I started, despite doing everything I'm told to do. Time to find another hobby, I say. FML

chess isn't for everyone. not everyone has an aptitude for every thing

What is long time? Who are you playing against? Are you trying to learn just by playing or anywhere else? Chess is a difficult game and if you're not progressing you should try to change how you learn. I was playing against my son for a year or so and he could not defeat me and did not seem to be progressing at all. Until he started playing with his friend in school. Now he's wrecking me every time ;) Of course, play only if it's fun for you. That's the most important factor here
