Today, if I’m not at work, I’m spending my time racing back and forth between sheer relief that I’m no longer married to my ex-husband and that I’ve got my freedom and independence back, and bursting into tears because the slightest thing reminds me of him, and I miss the awful twat. FML

It’s hard. Even if you logically know that you’re better this way, nostalgia and pink-colored glasses are powerful indeed. Write down a list of why your marriage broke apart. When you’re in one of these moods again, pull it out and read it, thinking of a specific example for every point. That should help.

You are human. We are prone to missing what we don’t have and forgetting the difficulties we had. You need some distraction - It could be self care, a hobby or interest, or even casual sexual activity. But don’t let yourself become obsessed with an ex - You already know how that ended. And be careful not to become obsessed with the first person who shows interest in you. Take some time to sort out your feelings.

You need to get laid. You seem to be forgetting a lot about your marriage that made it bad enough to end. Moving forward will get you past your past. That's poetry!

Try distracting yourself. When it's the weekend, start the morning with a nice, long bubble bath, then go out and get your hair and nails done. Being pampered will help you feel better, and help you level out your emotions. Then you can go do something fun and forget about him for a while. After a long time in a relationship, it can be difficult to learn to be on your own again. Company - friends, family, kids, acquaintances, hobbies, even a not-so-serious romance can help you work it out. Best of luck in 2022
