College Life
Packed lecture halls, a sketchy roommate and frat parties: welcome to college, the real thing.
Today, my adult daughter was hospitalized for severe fever, diarrhea, and fainting. The doctor couldn't find any cause other than sleep deprivation, because I started making her wake up at 7 am. I’ve never met anyone so ridiculously weak in my entire life. FML
Today, I finally finished a gruelling shift at the hospital. I hadn't slept in over 30 hours, so I was happy to get out. I was quickly rushed back in after I collapsed in the parking lot and cracked my head open. FML
Today, I went to my dad's workplace because my sister was there and I wanted to see my newborn niece. I was overjoyed until my dad came up to me. It had apparently been pretty hectic for the past week, because he was on the verge of another stress-induced heart attack. Yes, another. We had to help him outside. FML
Today, my wife and I both got released from the hospital. She was admitted for the birth of our daughter. I was admitted with a broken arm from when my mother-in-law shoved me out of the way because she wanted to be the first one to hold the baby after my wife. FML
Today, after seven years, I finally found out why my sister was mad at me: Because I had to get admitted to give birth on the day she had planned her baby shower, which she didn't inform me about or invite me to. As I stole her thunder by giving birth, being full term 44 weeks and way past my due date. FML
Today, my sister refused to come to the hospital with the rest of my family to visit my new baby. Apparently, I’m an "attention hogging slutbag" because I "chose to go into labor" on her birthday. FML
Today, I'm recovering from an emergency room visit. I was vomiting, sweating, shaking, crying, and couldn't even speak properly. I was scared of that, and scared of hospitals after a routine surgery nearly killed me two years ago. Most of my family are convinced I was faking all of it. FML
Today, I was supposed to be enjoying a long-anticipated, desperately needed, weekend away. Turns out those "little stomach twinges" were actually symptoms of appendicitis. I'm stuck in the hospital, alone, recovering from surgery, while my family is enjoying our non-refundable break. FML
Today, I went to the hospital due to extreme sickness. My boyfriend saw this as an opportune time to take another girl out since I was "otherwise preoccupied." FML
Today, I've been in my old hometown visiting because my sister is having her baby. I scheduled the trip a full week after her due date, and still no baby. We tried everything to start her labor. I had to go back home, and as soon as my plane landed, I got a text saying she just gave birth. FML

I work at a hospital and had to cover a sick nurse's shift last week. I worked 14 hours straight without a break, on top of having been up 10 hours prior to that. Either you got totally duped into letting them admit you, or you're an abnormally weak individual...

Oh do you know OP's sister? because nowhere in this FML does it say the baby's gender.

Uh so then you do realize that you're saying that YOU could be wrong as well? Do YOU know OP's sister?

If you've been admitted for exhaustion after just being there, I hope like hell your sister is alright! Must have been a hardcore labour. o_o

Sounds like someone's jealous her sister's getting all the attention...

I'm glad you wrote that, so I didn't have to.

Look at the bright side Now OP's family will give a get well soon card to OP and a Congratulation card to OP's sister. At the same time. Killing two birds with one stone.

Being awake for 12 hours makes you exhausted?! Some of us work those hours on a daily basis. Grow up.

Severe exhaustion for being at a hospital for 12 hours? My god toughen up.

I know, huh. I've spent way over 12 hours at a hospital before and never got exhaustion

I've stayed awake for two days straight on several occasions, usually without really resting. I wasn't hospitalized. I've worked 70 hour weeks. I wasn't hospitalized. I've been an insomniac my entire life and am usually exhausted, and have never been hospitalized for it. Seriously, 12 hours of activity was enough to exhaust you that much? Toughen up!!! I have a feeling your sister has more right to be tired than you do, and I doubt she appreciates you wussing out on her baby's first day!
DocBastard 40
So you're tired? And you were admitted to the hospital for exhaustion? What the **** does that even mean? GO THE **** HOME AND SLEEP IN YOUR OWN GODDAMNED BED! You're occupying a hospital bed that someone who is ACTUALLY SICK may need. Asshole.

Only in america...

Hey Doc, dunno if this makes it less pathetic, but when this was in moderation it mentioned 36 hours of partying before the 12 in the hospital. Guessing it doesn't help much, but there it is. Wonder if the OP meant dehydration, not exhaustion....

Severe exhaustion from sitting in a hospital doing nothing for 12 hours?! Your sister was in LABOUR! Im pretty sure she was much more exhausted. Also im pretty sure the doctors who had to take care of you will probably not sympathise with you seeing as they probably work for 12 hours straight
