How did you manage that?

Today, I was driving my car like any ordinary day. My dad had been harping on me about not checking the oil, so I finally checked it. Driving down the road my hood flew up and shattered my windshield. I forgot to latch my hood after checking the oil. $300 for a new windshield. The oil was fine. FML

I think that along with a driving test, a "Simple car care 101" test has to be taken too in order to have a licence. If you can't take care of your car you shouldnt have one !

I don't think this is fake. Not everyone's car act's the same way.

my best friend's dad owns a glass shop...he has hooked me up before but not because of something stupid like this...this happened to someone that was borrowing my dad's suburban and it just made a dent on each side of the hood where the hinges were.

You don't have very good insurance if it cost you $300. And if you never check your oil you could end up with more expensive problems than a broken windshield. And #48 is a douchebag.

The fact that the oil was fine is irelivant. You should check your oil. The reason its a FML is because you fail at life and don't know how to close a hood!

same thing definitely happened to my friends mom. and she's ALWAYS yelling at my friend for how reckless she is (my friend has hit 2 animals, dented the bumper, scratched her door, and broken the windshield in a 7 month period. and enjoys searching for songs on her ipod as her car drifts into the other lane.. quit scary) but it was poetic justice when it happened to her moms car. and her windshield is just done. can't even see out of it! sucks for you though.

YDI for not knowing how to properly use your car.

My mother kept complaining about the noise my gearbox made, even though it was working fine. When I had it 'checked out' they dismantled the whole thing and then changed me almost $2,000 to have it repaired (not replaced). $2,000 to get rid of a noise.

I didn't check my oil for months, and it destroyed my engine. The bill was $3000. It could be worse.

Agreed, with #57... never checking your oil, and not knowing how to close the hood?? Why own an operate an expensive machine if you don't know how to use the damn thing? Me, I used to change my own oil, and even do some of my own mechanic work on my old '74 Dodge Dart. Now that was fun!
