Act of god

Today, I purchased a new car. On the drive home, gusts of wind blew up debris and pebbles and caused little chips in the paint and small chips on the windshield. FML

And that’s part of why whoever financed your car requires proof of insurance. The windshield is no big thing, your collision or comprehensive coverage insurance will cover that repair often with a very minor copay. If the paint damage is serious there will be whatever copay you signed up with as part of your insurance. If paint damage is minor, a good automotive detailer can often handle that at a moderate cost to you without an insurance claim. If you bought a new car but didn’t have collision or compressive insurance then that was a big, big mistake. This is minor - A collision would be far worse.

Had similar happen to someone I knew in the past. Your insurance company will usually go ahead and cover that the same day you bought it if you call them as soon as it happened. They will know that they can make that small amount up in regular premiums since it will likely be full coverage insurance.

Now it's broken in and you don't have to worry about little scratches.
