Sorry, that really sucks. I grew to hate my birthday and Christmas because I had to pay for my own gifts in a similar situation.
I'm confused...your wife made you pay for your birthday dinner..... wouldn't the dinner still be payed out of the sane account regardless of who swiped the card? And if your married, do y'a ll not have the "all money is shared money" mentality?
Not every married couple does. Some couples just choose other financial rules for themselves that work best for them. For example, My husband and I have separate accounts-- so we can still buy whatever we want within reason even if the other person thinks it's stupid, and one of us can save without feeling like our savings get blown through by the other.
