Maybe he needs a little bit of extra money due to unforeseen circumstances, or just a little extra to put towards retirement. How this is YOUR FML though, I can't fathom.

Use it as an opportunity to get to know the dean. There are some people that don’t know how to spend their time idle. They look for things to do. Some people enjoy gig work, especially if it gets them to interact with others. I look for things to do when I’m idle, even make money with it, but sitting idle is hard for me. Too much energy, not enough ways to spend it.
