Fly my beauties

Today, my first graders released the butterflies we've been raising. The kids were sad that one had died in his cocoon and wouldn't be set free. Turns out that butterfly may have had a better fate: a flock of birds ate half of the others. Immediately after releasing them. In front of the kids. FML

So they learn about life and death...killing two birds with one stone. Or two butterflies with one bird. Take your pick.

#4/5: You are aware that there a lots of different kinds of birds, right? With different diets? There aren't really enough worms in the world to sustain the entire avian population. Plenty of birds are insectivores. And, at least the kids learned about 'the circle of life'? I would have been pretty upset if a bird ate my butterfly though :(

Lol that is pretty funny. Wish that was on Youtube or something. You couldn't do much to change the fact that your butterflies were viciously killed by birds, so that's why it is funny.

hahaha.. FYL indeed.. It'd suck to be a teacher like OP.. Imagine all the counselling and support groups the kids would need to help deal with what they saw.. hahaha.. This made my day.. Particularly, because in my first class today a butterfly flew in the window.. The whole class watched it fly around the room, and in between the fan blades, twice.. And then it flew outside, again.. And one of my class mates just randomly decided to get up and hurl out one of the other windows.. And I said: Thanks, for wrecking the butterfly moment.. XD

# 1 & 2, both of you are heartless S.O.Bs for saying that this is funny. I bet seeing both of your pets get viciously mauled to death by dogs is f*cking hilarious. I hope what you said was Sarcasm otherwise you're both are sick bastards. BTW, Poor butterflies. :(

i call bs, 95 percenet of butterflies are poisonous, hence theyre bright colour warning animals that they are. i aslo am willing to bet that if this happened they would raise monarch butterflies, which i am 100 percent sure are poisonous. birds arent stupid. they've learned not to eat poison.
