Fahrenheit 451

Today, my sister trashed all our family's antique books, saying, "I don't want a thousand old books written by dead white men." They were family heirlooms from the 19th century, and the whole collection was worth thousands. FML
I agree, your life sucks 1 554

The perfect image of present day refusal to acknowledge context and history. A shame. I would have killed my brother if he did this with our books (but he would never, as he appreciate old books just like we do - and he has the intellect to realize some of the books we have is actually written by women)

I hope your family makes her pay reparations for the rest of her life.

Probably hundreds of thousands if they were in good condition. Are you sure there weren't any Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson or Brontë sisters' books in there? Surely, she couldn't object to the writings of dead, white women.

I hope your family makes her pay reparations for the rest of her life.

Look at the bright side: Your sister just committed herself to finance you for the rest of her life. FYL.
