Today, I was working as a waitress at this pub. It was dead. After 4 hours I had only made 5$ in tips. A friendly couple came in and complimented EVERYTHING down to the freshness of the lemons in their tea. The bill came to $50. They left me a $5 gift card to Starbucks. I don't drink coffee. FML

Today, while I was working at Starbucks, a customer spilled her drink all over the counter. After I cleaned up her spill and remade the drink (for free), she exclaimed, "Thanks! I should really tip you!" Then she turned around, walked directly past the tip jar, and left the store. FML
Today, after starting my new career as a server, two women were kind enough to leave a $5 tip… while still owing $6.84 on their bill. FML
Today, I was complimented by my guests about the great of service I was giving them. They then left me a $2 tip on a $50 tab. FML
Today, at work, I served a group of three teens. Their tab was $75 and they tipped me nothing. They wrote a thank you on a piece of receipt paper, put it in a glass of water and used a coaster to turn the glass of water upside down on the table, spilling water everywhere. They also stole my pen. FML
Today, I'm a waitress. A customer came in and acted very kindly and even mentioned how I was such a help to her. She also mentioned leaving a nice tip. The tip? A fake $20. Thanks. FML
Today, I went into work to waitress on a table of 40 guests. They were my only table for the day and the bill came to over 700 dollars. After they left the busser was cleaning the table and threw out the credit card receipt which had my tip on it. FML
Today, I was waitressing for a huge family. Their bill was $750. Excited about the tip, I was shocked to see only $0.50. As they were leaving, I threw the two whole quarters at their heads. Guess who also got fired today. FML
Today, I was the only carhop at work for the last 2 hours. In that time, I waited on about 50 cars. I make server pay so I depend on tips, but none of them tipped me even a penny. I averaged under $3 an hour tonight. FML
Today, while I was working as a waitress, I had to wait on a table of 13 people. I was struggling through it and when they finally left I went by the table to pick up my tip. Instead of a money I got a napkin saying, "Here's your tip, don't be a waitress." FML
Today, a customer tried to pay for a $1.55 cup of coffee with a gift card, but he came up a dollar short. He let another customer through while he fumbled in his pocket for money. I later noticed a dollar had disappeared from my tip jar. FML

Well, there's tea and pastries there, too, yanno. I always get a Chai when I go there. No reason to be completely thankless.

Like #9 said you are being picky. I think you are also being selfish. They could have left you nothing. Maybe they did not have anything else to leave you. I used to dislike coffee until I had one of Starbuck's fancy $4-for-a-tall-fancy-flavored-mocha things. Get over it and be greatful for what you got from them.

They sell things other than coffee. Hot chocolate? I'm sure they do muffins and stuff as well. Though I'm in the UK, but I'm guessing it's the same everywhere :3

i feel for you, OP. many waitresses make under minimum wage, so they really do live off their tips. to only wind up with ten dollars for 4 hours work, 5 of which you probably wouldn't use, is really rough. this kind of thing is exactly why i won't waitress - some nights you can really clean up, others you don't get shit. i can't risk it so i keep my so-so job with a steady check. FYL, hun. :(
