Always prepared

Today, some friends got upset with me as I wouldn't leave work early and cycle 12 miles to meet them to fix their punctures because they had no spare tubes or repair kits. The same friends that always mock me for being so prepared on bike rides. FML

Maybe this'll teach them. Sadly, it probably won't.

That's karma right there for them. You shouldn't give them what they want.

Probably op friends escaped from karma...strong guessing....

Lots of people in the UK don't own cars. The roads in many places are much older and narrower than they are in the US and, it being an island, things are much closer together for your daily routine. Also, public transportation is much more convenient and reliable for long trips than in the US. I wish I could get away with not owning a car.

@13 Why? Not everyone needs a car, and you don't know if Op does or not.

Cars are expensive. You would know unless if you make decent money, or mom and dad pay for yours. Insurance rates are not cheap. I used to pay $200 a month on a 20 year old car for basic insurance. That doesn't account for registration fees and tags every year. I don't know if that applies to countries outside of the US. Oh, and you can't forget the gas costs.

$200 / for minimum coverage on a 20 year old car??? Cripes, lady! Is your car gold plated or something?

That's so stupid, FML hopefully you didn't follow through and help them...

hats off to you for not helping them op. They don't deserve anything from you for treating you that way.

They really don't deserve to be friends with OP if they treat him/her like that

Guess they learned the hard way, "It's better to have and not need, than need and not have."

Two hours there and two back? I would turn that down without question...they should know now to repair a tire and shouldn't need your help...

Who needs two hours to cycle 12 miles??

It should take roughly an hour to get there and an hour coming back, depending on the OP's speed, weather, the traffic, etc.
