Agony

Today, I got told by the doctor that my aching knees indeed have advanced arthritis, meaning I'm grinding bone on bone 24/7. At 49, I'm "relatively young," meaning they want me to survive for as many years as I can before they'll replace them. Never mind that I've already been in agony for 10 years. FML

I as told the same thing about my bad knee. I was to the point they would have to clean out scar tissue every year just so I could walk. So I changed doctors and they got me in and started prepping for a partial replacement in just 2 weeks. That partial lasted six years until a fall caused that to come loose and got a full replacement in 2021. I’m 47.

Find an ortho that does rooster comb injections. I was diagnosed with junior rheumatoid arthritis at 15 and they have been a LIFE SAVER

i hear that there's a new procedure that injects something into your knees instead of replacing them. look into that.

You need a better doctor or better insurance. I had my first knee joint replacement at the age of 60. I went directly to doctor who specialized in that and after the x-rays the only question was when shall we schedule the procedure… It doesn’t matter how old you are, if the joint is worn out to bone on bone contact then you need the surgery… The plastic wear/bearing disk may eventually wear out, but my doctor told me that replacing that was much less traumatic than the full knee joint replacement surgery…
