Keep the receipt and keep track of the mileage. You should be able to receive your money after letting them know about that error and proving it was for the company car.

That will likely help get the money back, but company red tape being what it is I highly doubt that OP gets the money back any time before the end of the month.

isn't it also possible to get a refund at the fuel station and have them charge the fuel card instead for the same amount? That way it's immediate

some fuel stations won't do card refunds. and it's a hassle to get any mo wy back. at least, that's how it is at the station. i frequent.

Maybe they won't give it back on the card, but what we do is we give it back in cash and then charge the other card. this is way less trouble and also immediate money back.

that sucks. I once had to fuel a company truck with my own funds, luckily in my case, my company had ready cash to dish out if brought back proper documents.

OP might have not got a lot of money. Maybe OP's washing machine broke down not long ago. Or maybe ... fill in something yourself .... happened. Who cares? Not everyone is able to save money due to whatever.

Can you not get the petrol station to refund your card and repay using the fuel card? It'll take a few days for the refund but it's better than waiting to payday for money.
