Today, while I was working my shift at the store, my girlfriend appeared and asked to talk to me. Once we were alone, she burst into tears and started sobbing. Turns out someone's dad died in her favorite TV show and she wanted some comfort. FML
Today, I found myself crying my eyes out over my two favourite fictional characters' deaths. It happened over 6 years ago and has affected me more than real peoples' deaths. FML
Today, I was crying over my favorite artist dying (as I often do). I was home alone, watching his documentary/movie in my living room, and I started crying REALLY HARD. It was the loudest and hardest I've ever cried. Guess who showed up to the house? The cops. The neighbors thought I was dying. FML
Today, I cried so much I felt nauseous and almost puked. Why was I crying? I made up a hot, brooding, cold, and heartless guy who secretly cared about me, and who's super protective. Then I imagined him dying by being stabbed. I cried over a guy I made up in my head. FML
Today, I had red eyes from crying, and everyone assumed that my mom, who has been seriously ill, had died so they tried comforting me. It was quite embarrassing to have to tell them that it was because I'd just watched the last episode of season 4 of Veronica Mars. FML
Today, I cried harder than I have in years. I was babysitting, and watching Pokémon to pass the time. It was the episode where Ash, Dawn, and Brock on the show went their separate ways, and may never be together again. FML
Today, I saw an old friend while out and about. Since I don't leave the house very often, my friend was surprised to see me in person. He jokingly asked if someone was dying, and I cried in response. I was in fact going to the hospital to say goodbye to my grandma. FML
Today, I was crying because my cat died. My boyfriend cupped my face in his hands, looked me straight into the eyes and said, "I love seeing you cry." FML
Today, my youth pastor died and I was crying. My boss told me to dry my tears, because it was affecting my coworkers. Sorry I'm human and cry when someone I know dies. FML
Today, I was at a meeting. One of the other members decided to share that their cat had passed away recently. I got an uncontrollable nervous laugh, started crying because I was laughing so hard, and left the room while everyone watched in horror. FML

Waffleslol... It obviously never occured to you the potential seriousnesd of the OP's situation. Deep in his/her mind something trigged a realistic mental bond with the character maybe it represented a parental figure or a reflection of self. You cant take these things lightly. i think it's the fact that she was rushed to the hospital because she couldn't breathe that was the problem... i really liked monk a lot, and when i found out that the series was ending i was sad. but i didn't start screaming and pulling my hair out, for example. that's like what op did. it's a fictional character and she cried over it, so much that she had to go to the hospital. i didn't cry that much when my grandpa died. so yes, op needs to grow up. hobbies and interests are great to enjoy, but there's a point when it's just over the top. this sounds like more of a crazy obsession than just an interest.

I know i've cried over tv shows before. I never really do because I'm not that invested in them, but if I'm sad about something in my life and I see something sad on tv I tend to cry a bit. I remember crying when Alex on Lost died. Lol! And yeah it's pathetic. If the OP had wrote "Today, I cried when my favorite comic book character died. FML" I would of laughed and shamefully admitted that i've done similar things. But she didn't just cry, she was crying so hard she had to go to the hospital. There's a huge difference. At some point surely you would of thought "What the hell am I doing, fictional characters can't actually die." or "I'm going to the hospital over something ridiculous when I know other people need help more than me. Which character? What anime? I've cried before because of anime characters dying, they make it really dramatic. It's like crying from a sad book or reality show, just animated. One really sad anime was Air Tv, I almost cried a few times in that.

I almost cried when Kamina died too. That was literally heartbreaking. My guy friend actually stopped watching Gurren Lagann for a bit to get himself ready for that. Kittan's death wasn't as bad for me though. [This is @#76's reply to my comment, if it doesn't wind up there...]

Hell, I'd (unfortunately) spoiled it for myself, but Kamina's death was still very emotional. Manly tears! And since I watched the last four episodes of Gurren Lagann all at once, my mind was too blown to process that Kittan died. Probably mitigated by the fact that they had killed off five secondary characters in the space of five minutes not too long before that.
