Today, my family is getting ready for a vacation. My idea of a vacation is being on a beach, staying in a luxurious hotel, with cute guys and great restaurants everywhere. Unfortunately, we are going to be sleeping in a cold tent in the mountains, cook over a fire, and listen to bears stomp around at night. FML

Today, my dad announced that to "save money", instead of going to the beach we will be going camping. My brothers thought it was awesome. I can't stand the thought. Instead of a sexy golden tan, I now get bug bites, pit toilets, and bear attacks! Ugh! FML
Today, I have to pack for tomorrow's family vacation. For one week I get to be stuck in a one bedroom cabin with my alcoholic father, bipolar mother, and two much younger siblings who have a passion for screaming. FML
Today, as I can’t afford a “real” vacation, I’m trying to get my car converted for camping in time for what promises to be perfect weather next week. Meanwhile, my mom booked a trip to Switzerland. For next week. Guess who gets to stay home and feed the animals? FML
Today, it's day two of my family's camping trip. Despite the weather, bugs, and portapotties, we were doing okay, until the can opener broke. My husband is stubbornly insisting that we live off cereal and peanut butter for another five days. FML
Today, I'm on vacation. I spent $4000 to surprise my boyfriend on a trip to Hawaii. We have been together over a year. Turns out, he hates the outdoors. He's mad at me for bringing him here and is upset at everything. He's in the room reading, I'm at the bar drinking $10 Mai Tai's. FML
Today, I’m in Las Vegas on vacation with my boyfriend and his dad. After staying in his dad’s dirty, dusty, toilet-broken Arizona cabin, we’re now in a cheap, shady, smoke-filled Vegas motel. I’m picking the hotels next time. FML
Today, I got back from a camping trip after being homesick for 3 weeks. I couldn't remember why I had wanted to be away from my family for so long when I signed up for it. When I got home, I remembered. Everyone in my family hates each other. I want to go back to the camping site. FML
Today, I am on vacation in Dubai with my dad and a few of his friends. I thought we were going to travel and see some amazing things, but I'm confined to my hotel room while everyone drinks and watches Family Guy. FML
Today, I began my first solo holiday at my family's' lakeside cabin. After an hour of tanning in my fave bikini on the lake beach, I saw that I was alone, got brave enough to take a risk, and took off my bikini so my body could get a full tan. Guess when a family from a nearby cabin chose to also come to the lake for fun… FML
Today, I've been in Bali for 12 days. We have done nothing but sit around because my whole family is sick, and they won't let me do anything because it's supposed to be a "family vacation". FML

OP, it sounds like your idea of a vacation costs a lot more money than camping. When you have your own income and are living on your own you can do it your way… In the meantime try camping - You just might like it after all.

Entitled much? as Chazzster noted, Camping is more affordable, especially for larger families. But it also gets you to places hotels never will. Tye beauty of this world is not solely in 6-pack abs and jogging pants. Besides that, think of what all your parents do and put up with at work throughout the year, and how they come home to spoiled kids (I spoil my family too) who are addicted to the plugged in world. take a teen vogue, a harlequin novel and your favorite toy and enjoy the natural world around you. You may just see a beautiful sunrise/sunset or meet a cute boyscout who wants to be a park ranger. boys stuck on their phones by the pool get fat. and you rarely see a fat 90 year old (healthy people live longer).
