Whenever I got lice as a little kid, my mom would pick each individual lice out of my hair. I hated sitting there without being able to move, but it was totally worth it. One of the worst feelings you can have are bugs crawling all over you and nesting on your scalp..

I once got a kid back from surgery, and as I leaned over to listen to his chest, I glanced up and saw his very frisky crop of head lice. No one in the OR had noticed, even though part of the pre-op protocol was to put a paper hair cover on him. Seriously, the little buggers were jumping-I itched for the rest of my shift.
