Today, my new friend tried to introduce me to "American Culture," as I am new to the city. He explained what a hamburger is and how it differs from the Asian food I was used to eating. I moved from Seattle and have worked at Burger King. FML

lmao so stupid how can this person think Asians only live in China it's like saying all white people live in North America

OMG, I work at Burger King aswell! well, aussies call it Hungry Jacks.

Mate, how can you be in Australia and not know that Burger King and Hungry Jacks are independent businesses.

I can imagine his friend explain in a condescending monotone "this is a ham-bur-ger".

That's actually kind of funny. Hopefully, you played along with it.

I don't exactly call that a friend. If they're automatically labeling you as the "other", you can find better people to hang out with

Does he know that McDonald's has locations worldwide and that, even if you had moved from Asia, it's likely that you would still know what a burger is?

You should play along with it. Then after you've known each other for a while, invite him along on a trip to your "home country", and watch his reaction when the plane lands in Seattle. Also I'm sorry people are so ignorant.
