Today, my five year old daughter was watching cartoons on TV. Then a Barbie commercial came on. My daughter sang along with the theme song "Be who you want to be, B-A-R-B-I-E." She then turned to me and said "Mom, I want to be a hooker." FML

HA, I doubt she knows what a hooker does.

That'll be a great occupation to put on her resumé :D

Haha, so cute :) Kids say the darndest things. Better she tells you now so you can redirect her ambitions. A few months ago I told my mom I want to take pole dancing classes and the most she could do was tell me that I have to pay for them myself :P Note: Pole Dancing, not stripping, though I can imagine my mom sets them about equal.

This is too funny. I doubt she knows what a hooker is, but the association with Barbie is easy. How many people on these stupid talk shows make that comparison when they get on that topic of whether or not Barbie is a positive toy for a girl to have? She probably didn't pick it up from anywhere that a person could consider somehow "sinister". Seriously, some of you do not think things through before you comment in this boring attempt to be mean or funny.

its the association with the "be who you wanna be" part of the song, not the BARBIE part

Oh dont worry, she probably mispronounced "bookkeeper" for "hooker". You have nothing to worry about.

It's never too late to give a child up for adoption!

She probably heard it somewhere, thought it was a good thing (because they tried to cover up their mistake by saying it was a good thing?), and then took it the wrong way. She's five, I wouldn't expect her to know everything someone says. Who knows where she picked it up. She may have heard it when you weren't around. Yikes.
